I saw these pictures on Google+. I saw them and I said "The aliens are coming! The aliens are coming!!"" lol.. People sometimes mistakes these clouds are UFOs. Peculiar clouds, they are.. but they look cool, nonetheless.. :)
Lenticular clouds
Are stationary lens-shaped clouds that form at high altitudes, normally aligned perpendicular to the wind direction. Where stable moist air flows over a mountain or a range of mountains, a series of large-scale standing waves may form on the downwind side. If the temperature at the crest of the wave drops to the dew point, moisture in the air may condense to form lenticular clouds. Pilots of powered aircraft tend to avoid flying near lenticular clouds, but glider pilots actively seek them out. These clouds have been offered as an explanation for some Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings. - Wikipedia

ReplyDeleteLenticular clouds could pose a confusing sight for most of the people, especially those who have seen these peculiar clouds for the first time. Just like me. I may mistake these things as UFOs. Well, these clouds are formed because of the temperature, the coldness and the hotness of the atmosphere. These are my presumptions. The clouds are really amazing. They are wonders.
