The Fountain of Youth

There's this woman I know. She's tall, charming, beautiful. The kind of woman that when she walks past you or bumps you in the shoulder, you'd be amazed by her beauty. She's radiantly beautiful and flawless, that you'd be wondering.. "What in the world is her secret?? Has she discovered the fountain of youth?"

From time immemorial, men has been searching for the fountain of youth. Nobody wants to get old. Everybody wants to stay young. Every now and then, some magic pill comes out. They claim to have the found the solution to STOP the aging process.

Stop it. Stop aging. Pfft! Really?!?

People have been so intrigued with the idea of immortality. Not dying. Not aging. The prospect of being immortal has always had its appeal. From the time of our great world leaders until now, it never loses its charm. It even branched out inside the busy world of entertainment. Yes, we have books, TV shows and movies depicting youth and immortality - the famous Twilight Saga, for one.

I don't think that the fountain of youth does exist. There is no anti-aging remedy that can stop us from aging. I'm no doctor, but here's my opinion. With time, we gain some damage in our cells.. our DNA. Of course, when we're just babies, they can't be seen by the naked eye. People start to gain these so-called symptoms of aging as we grow old, from infant to teen, to adolescence into an adult human being until we reach old age. But that is just totally normal. As we grow old, the amount of damage that accumulates exceeds our DNA damage limit, it is way past its self-repair level. So out comes the wrinkles, the sagging of skin, the loss of hearing and sight.. etc.

To age. It is inevitable.

We can't stop it but we can slow it down. Healthy diet. Exercise. Happy life. The closest thing to that so-called "magic pill" for youth and health is a balanced combination of diet, exercise and attitude.

So go ahead and get some fresh air. Do a little exercise. Eat healthy. And smile! Don't be too obsessed with the way you look. Be more concerned with the way you live.

Ciao!

Wag maistress.. Ganun tlga ang buhay, daming balakid. Pero kelangang marunong tayong mag SMILE. :)

  2. siguro yung ponds anti aging can help. Pero tama ka nasa genes naman yon. Ang importante woman should age gracefully. Hindi yung nalolosyang nalang at wala ng pakiaalam. Katulad ng mga matatandang babae dito sa street namin. Nakakalimutan na magbra. (?)

    1. Ahahaha!! Napatawa mo ako dun, Rah. hehe..

A very good point. A woman should age gracefully. Dapat beauty pa din. We should take care of ourselves kahit na pumapasok na tayo sa old age. Yung iba kasi, ginagawa nilang reason ang age nila not to look good.. or baka lang din, hindi nila ma-afford ang Ponds. Mahal din kasi yun. Harhar.. :p

  3. ayan, nauuna ka pala sa akin mag post about sa pagtatanda.

We just have to enjoy life kung ano tayo ngayon and always feel na we are at our best at present.Wala naman kokontra doon. what matters most is your feelings about yourselt.ofcourse ang pagaalaga sa sarili ay kailangan para maenjoy ng mas lalo ang buhay.

  4. If fountain of youth is true...everybody would rush to it no matter what it takes but it isn't so we just have to accept the fact that we grow old. Good for the celebrities who have all the money they could use to afford face lifts and other similar beauty enhancements. They remain gorgeous and beautiful even at a very old age already. As for the ordinary persons as we are...we just have to live life to the fullest, think young, and sty happy - they may somehow do us a favor.

  6. there's one more tip that's hitting the health scene today.. lesser or minimize sugar intake.. because after all the research, it's actually sugar that's making us unhealthy. hehe.. just a tip.

but yes, as long as you have reasons to smile, be happy and staying positive, you'll always feel young. ^_^

  12. People who don't stop chasing immortality could probably be better off getting ideas from Tuck Everlasting or something. Life withers away no matter how sad that seems.

  13. "Fountain of youth" is just a product of a writer's imagination. As Albert Einstein puts it - youth is a state of mind. The beauty, the flawlessness of one's body is dependent on the care and maintenance of the said beauty.

  14. Nice points :) but on my opinion, I believe that charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting but the woman who fears GOD is to be praised :)
