Adventure Movies

There are lots of adventure films that my family loves to watch and I don't want to choose just one. Here are my top 5 adventure films that me and my family have enjoyed and still enjoys watching until today.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - (also known as Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) is a 1981 American action-adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by George Lucas, and starring Harrison Ford. It is the first film in the Indiana Jones franchise, and pits Indiana Jones (Ford) against the Nazis, who search for the Ark of the Covenant, in an attempt to make their army invincible. The film co-starred Karen Allen as Indiana's former lover, Marion Ravenwood; Paul Freeman as Indiana's nemesis, French archaeologist René Belloq; John Rhys-Davies as Indiana's sidekick, Sallah; and Denholm Elliott as Indiana's colleague, Marcus Brody. *

Jurassic Park - Jurassic Park is a 1993 American science fiction thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. The film centers on the fictional Isla Nublar (Incorrect Spanish meant for "Cloudy Island", it would be "Isla Nublada" properly), in Costa Rica, where billionaire philanthropist John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) and a team of genetic scientists from his company have created an amusement park of cloned dinosaurs. The movie is followed by two blockbuster sequels. *

The Lord Of The Rings - The Lord of the Rings is an epic fantasy novel written by philologist and University of Oxford professor J. R. R. Tolkien. The story began as a sequel to Tolkien's earlier, less complex children's fantasy novel The Hobbit (1937), but eventually developed into a much larger work. It was written in stages between 1937 and 1949, much of it during World War II. Although mistakenly known to most readers as a trilogy, the work was initially intended by Tolkien to be one volume of a two-volume set along with The Silmarillion. However, when Tolkien submitted the first volume entitled 'The Lord of the Rings' to his publisher, it was decided for economic reasons to publish the work as three separate volumes, each consisting of two books, over the course of a year in 1954–55, creating the full 'Lord of the Rings' sequence. The three volumes were entitled The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. *

Harry Potter - Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by the British author J. K. Rowling. The books chronicle the adventures of the adolescent wizard Harry Potter and his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main story arc concerns Harry's quandary involving the evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents in his quest to conquer the wizarding world and subjugate non-magical people (Muggles). The seven series are Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. *

Star Wars - (Space Adventue) Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise conceived by George Lucas. The first film in the franchise was originally released on May 25, 1977, by 20th Century Fox, and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, followed by two sequels, released at three-year intervals. Sixteen years after the release of the trilogy's final film, the first in a new prequel trilogy of films was released, again released at three-year intervals, with the final film released on May 19, 2005. As of 2008, the overall box office revenue generated by the six Star Wars films has totalled approximately $5.51 billion, making it the third-highest-grossing film series, behind only the James Bond and Harry Potter films. *

The events depicted in Star Wars media take place in a fictional galaxy. Many species of alien creatures (often humanoid) are depicted. Robotic droids are also commonplace and are generally built to serve their owners. Space travel is common, and many planets in the galaxy are members of a Galactic Republic, later reorganized as the Galactic Empire. *

One of the prominent elements of Star Wars is the "Force", an omnipresent energy that can be harnessed by those with that ability. It is described in the first produced film as "an energy field created by all living things that surrounds us, penetrates us, [and] binds the galaxy together." The Force allows users to perform a variety of supernatural feats (such as telekinesis, clairvoyance, precognition, and mind control) and also can amplify certain physical traits, such as speed and reflexes; these abilities vary between characters and can be improved through training. While the Force can be used for good, it has a dark side that, when pursued, imbues users with hatred, aggression, and malevolence. The six films feature the Jedi, who use the Force for good, and the Sith, who use the dark side for evil in an attempt to take over the galaxy. *

I first saw this movie when I was only a little kid. And when I was about 8 years old, my brother and I would play "Jedi". We'd have our fake lightsabers and we'd pretend to be Jedi masters. And then he'd go breathing like Dark Vader.. "Fhhuuuu-huuhh! Fhhuuu-hhuhhh! Luke. I am your father!" And then, I'd say.. "Nnnnoooooo!!!!" We'd pick up a stick, a pole or an umbrella and we'd have an imaginary fight with sound effects, of course.

I'm a Star Wars fan. But unlike some fans who love Luke Skywalker or maybe Han Solo or even Chewy, they are all wonderul characters but I developed a liking towards Darth Vader. Oh yeah. To me, he's simply the greatest. The antagonist-turned-protagonist. He's epic!

If you actually think about it, Star Wars is not a movie about Luke and Leia Skywalker or about the Galactic Empire, no.. It's all about Anakin Skywalker. Now that the story is complete (all 6 movies), one can totally see the conflict and the struggles young Anakin had to endure before fulfilling his destiny. In the last movie, he had proven to himself and to his son that he did not lose his humanity. He was the boy in the prophecy - the one who would bring balance to the force.

There are lots of adventure films that my family have watched over and over again. While I enjoy watching animated films, my dad and two brothers prefer watching action films and my mom adores comedies, we sure agree that the above mentioned adventure films are the kind of adventure movies we all love to watch.
