Day 21 - Browsers

Day 21.

"Google, Firefox, Rockmelt or Internet Explorer?"

What are these? For the sake of those who do not know (which is fairly impossible), these are web/internet browsers.
Google Chrome - is a web browser developed by Google that uses the WebKit layout engine and application framework. It was first released as a beta version for Microsoft Windows on 2 September 2008, and the public stable release was on 11 December 2008. The name is derived from the graphical user interface frame, or "chrome", of web browsers. As of January 2011, Chrome was the third most widely used browser, and passed the 10% worldwide usage share of web browsers, according to Net Applications. It aims to be secure, fast, simple and stable.

Rockmelt - This web browser is just like Chrome. Re-imagined. RockMelt does more than just navigate Web pages. It makes it easy for you to do the things you do every single day on the Web: share and keep up with your friends, stay up-to-date on news and information, and search. And of course, RockMelt is fast, secure, and stable because it’s built on Chromium, the open source project behind Google’s Chrome browser. It’s your browser – re-imagined and built for how you use the Web.

Mozilla Firefox - Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source web browser descended from the Mozilla Application Suite and managed by Mozilla Corporation. As of February 2011, Firefox is the second most widely used browser with approximately 30% of worldwide usage share of web browsers. The browser has had particular success in Germany, where it is the most popular browser with 60% usage. To display web pages, Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine, which implements most current web standards in addition to several features which are intended to anticipate likely additions to the standards.
Internet Explorer - Windows Internet Explorer (formerly Microsoft Internet Explorer, commonly abbreviated IE or MSIE) is a series of graphical web browsers developed by Microsoft and included as part of the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems starting in 1995. It was first released as part of the add-on package Plus! for Windows 95 that year. Later versions were available as free downloads, or in service packs, and included in the OEM service releases of Windows 95 and later versions of Windows.

I have 4 browsers in my laptop. Most of the time, I use Chrome for its simplicity. It is fairly fast, too. Just type the url's, click away and VIOLA! Sometimes, I use the Rockmelt browser. It's kinda like Chrome, but with a twist. It is connected with Facebook, and uses user-friendly chat features. I rarely use Firefox. And I never use Internet Explorer. Haha.

So what's my pick? Google Chrome. And yours...??

  8. I married google chrome LONG ago. But the new internet explorer, along with the bing bar, and windows live essentials is tempting me to commit adultery :D.
Microsoft have done a really good job with the way the whole windows live programs interact and work together.
