Visayas Earthquakes
The Negros islands and Cebu (and some major cities in the Visayas region, central Philippines) experienced a magnitude 6.7 earthquake this morning (February 6, 2012, 11:49 AM, local time PHL), and several more aftershocks in the afternoon.
I live in Iloilo City (which is about 94 miles away from Cebu City), and we also felt the earth shake under our feet. It was scary. But thinking back, when the main shock happened, the first thought that came to mind was "My dogs! I've got to make sure they're okay!"
I remember.. The earth was shaking, and instead of looking for safety or dropping to the ground and taking cover under a sturdy table or something, I hastily ran inside my room, led my two dogs to a safe spot in the backyard before running for cover myself. Apparently, I consider my dogs' lives to be way more important than my own. :p
Oh, well. Thank goodness, no one I know got hurt.
However, I've heard that this earthquake have caused landslides, extensive damages to properties and have taken lives, as well. Terrible news.

I'm glad you, your household, and your dogs are fine.
ReplyDeleteOo nga po.. Thanks, Kuya. :)
ReplyDeletemag pray lang tayo Leah...everything's gonna be fine ^^
Oo nga. Sabi kasi sa news, magpapatuloy pa daw ang tremor for a few days pa, or maybe weeks pa nga daw. Awts..
DeletePraying for Visayas..
I saw the news kanina, naalala kita Ms. Leah kasi sabi Iloilo daw. Buti naman you and your dogs are safe. Be safe Ms. Leah!
ReplyDeleteYes, ms Sey. I'm not sure kung merong damages sa Cebu, malamang meron nga.. Hayz..
DeleteKatakot talaga ang lindol. Wala kang magagawa.. Wala kang matatakbuhan..
It's very human of you to think of your pets first. I hope things return to normal and there's no aftershocks. Take care!
ReplyDeleteYeah.. Thanks. :) Well, I'm living with my two dogs. Mom and Dad are at home, and I know they're okay. Thank God. Actually, there are several aftershocks.. And in the news, they said that we'd continue having them until next week.. :( scary...
DeleteCertified pet lover!
Salamat, Sendo. Sila talaga agad ang naisip ko eh.. :)
DeleteYep, yep..
Again with the earthquakes. I'd tell them to stop, but the earth's curst will never stop transforming really. Just wish we could prevent casualties like these from falling.
ReplyDeleteTrue. The earth's crust never stops moving.. We always experience tremors, but we don't usually notice them. How I wish we'd stop having these strong quakes like the one that happened last Monday, or the one that hit Japan.. But there's really nothing we could do about it. It's the earth we're talking about..
Delete... ahh, scary thought.
I think I saw you tweet about this. It's a damn shame :( But I would also save my cats before I saved myself.
ReplyDeleteYes.. I tweeted when the shaking stopped. It was scary.. And the aftershocks happened while I was researching fault lines and watching earthquakes videos.
DeleteWe both love our pets.. I didn't think about anything, just that I had to get them to safety.
I'm glad to hear that you're safe Leah & syempre pati ang mga dogs mo =)
ReplyDeleteI heard about it in the news. Sad kasi when there's an earthquake, the damage does not end when the earth stops moving. My thoughts and prayers to all the families of those affected.
Be safe, sis =)
Oo nga po.. daming naapektuhan. Daming damages, tsaka dami ring namatay. :(
DeleteWe're so glad and lucky na wala masyadong damages dito sa amin. Thank you po, ms Kris..
THANK GOD, YOU'RE ALL SAFE THERE. LET'S JUST PRAY MORE THAT EVERYONE WHO'S AFFECTED BY THE KILLER QUAKE BE COMFORTED AND SAFE.
ReplyDeleteThank you.. Pray for Visayas..
Tsaka lives were lost.. :(
DeleteSimply put, a person kind to animals is by nature kind. Good that you're ok Leah. Keep safe. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I'll do kung mawawala sila.. Thanks, Leo. I will. :)
DeleteGod bless you Leah :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bino. :)
DeleteBe safe, ate!
ReplyDeleteSalamat, Empi.. I will. :)
Deletepray for us!
ReplyDeleteAmen.
DeleteAsked my mom the same question! How are the dogs? She said she tripped while running after one of them. I love my dogs.
ReplyDeleteI heard about this in the morning and was just about to text you but realised I didn't have your number or anything. FAIL!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're well and I hope and pray that the damage is limitted and the people they're okay.
