Elephants.
They fascinate me. They are large but gentle creatures. Huge feet. Flapping ears. Long nose/trunks. They are very fascinating. It is also said that elephants are intelligent and have very good memories. Elephants are the largest living land animals on Earth today, according to Wikipedia. It is just sad that their numbers are dwindling.
From then until today, the elephant population is continually threatened by poaching and ivory trade. People kill these elephants for their tusks. These large, slow-breeding animals cannot hide from poachers and take years to reproduce. One kill, that's all it takes.. and the hope for reproduction is then cut in half. What the elephants use to dig for water, search for food or occasional weapons for survival, people kill and get these tusks for money.
And they say animals are dangerous. I say otherwise. These humans never fail to amaze me with their arrogance, stupidity and their being downright heartless. (pouts and crosses arms) Shame.

ReplyDeleteOnly when poachers can flap their ears like elephants can are they allowed to poach. ie never, yay for close-to-zero-speed evolution!

ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Both on the awesomeness of elephants, and the evils of man. Poaching is one thing I can neither understand nor abide. Elephants really are very gentle creatures who are aware of their size, and their power, and choose not to use it it seems. They don't deserve that, nothing does. It really makes me sad that I'm pretty sure wolves were hunted to extinction here in this country.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, humans are more dangerous than any other creatures here on Earth. We say we wanna protect our planet, but we're actually the ones ruining it. Elephants are awesome, I wanna ride one someday!

I deteste poachers or hunters of any kind. I said so in my "W is for Wolves" post and it applies to all those who hunt any sort of creature! Including elephants
