Honesty
Folks, do you have what it takes to be a great partner in life, best friend, leader, and so and so forth? If you look deep down yourself, would you find the "best policy" in you? Do you believe in honesty as the best policy? But before answering this question, you have to at least define honesty in its deeper sense.
Honesty (as for many) is when you say nothing but the truth.
I, myself agree to that because primarily, that’s the very simple and easiest way to understand the word. But if we would go deeper, honesty, as tested by act, the only real measure of honesty is action. It is very easy to say that you're telling truth but your actions prove otherwise. Our actions never lie and they can really "speak".
Honesty starts in the heart. If you have a clean and sincere heart, it would directly separate you from all the things that give you the opportunity to lie.
To say that you're honest your whole life and that you've never lied.. EVER, that's already a lie. Each and every one of us has lied... some time, some where.. about what we did or didn't do, about our whereabouts, about our friends and our families, about our age, about our weight.. and the list goes on.
Honesty is just not about "telling the truth" but "feeling the truth", as well. If you're not being honest about what you said.. you don't mean it.. you say one thing, but mean another.. then there is no honesty. You're simply covering the truth with sugar-coated words.
"Honesty is the best policy", the wise men say. Being honest and telling the truth gives you peace of mind, helps you gain the trust of people around you and it keeps innocent people from being wrongfully-blamed. It is pretty easy to say that you're being honest. But as my guest blogger has stated, the real measure of honesty is action.
"Honesty" is being truthful. But it is also being sincere, trustworthy and fair. Everybody lies, yes. And the truth hurts, most of the time. But it's better to tell people the hard truth than to let them believe in a lie.

aww si mommy razz pala yun. She's right that the real measure of honesty is action. What more can I say. Nasabi nyo na lahat about honesty. Yet, there might be instances that it's best not to tell every thing, not really lie, but just keep quiet about something so as not to hurt another person's feelings. I just don't know if it falls on the subject of honesty. hehe..
ReplyDeleteAng galing naman ni mommy Razz. Anyway. We go to the point. . .
ReplyDeleteHonesty was clearly defined and was wisely elaborated. If there is partiality then it cannot be defined as honesty. I may want to add that honesty requires one hundred percent conviction, and must be independent of one person's biases towards telling the truth [this is for Mayen above].
I believe [and have to agree with Mommy Razz] that what's important is being honest at all times and not pleasing anyone in particular. Yes, the truth might hurt, but in the end, we are only trying to become good people by employing that which is right/what must be done, no matter what the consequences are.
Yan ang pinaka-importante sa lahat.
ReplyDeleteI think Mommy Raz nailed it when she made mention about sincerity on paragraph 4. Super awesome.
ReplyDeleteSpot on to Mommy Raz and Leah for this super cool project. Can't wait for my post to be featured here. Still working on it. :)
Cheers.
I've never done any real hard-core lying. I couldn't even if I wanted to.
ReplyDeleteThough I agree wholly with what the author of this post has said, I also think doing a thing would be normally right at the wrong time doesn't necessarily make it right. Think about it.
ReplyDelete:)
I totally agree with the authour. Honesty is judged by action.
ReplyDeletehonest is the best policy pa rin ako ahw haha..pero yeeeh...honesty equals to sincerity equaled with action
ReplyDeleteawww very nice post !
ReplyDeleteHonesty is something I value a lot... If I can't tell a person just yet what I want to tell, I'd rather delay the moment I tell rather than telling another story. And no matter what, actions do speak louder than words. :)
being honest can actually save you sa maraming troubles :)
ReplyDeleteLEah! Musta na ka??

Being honest is never and will never be an easy task. very beautiful post. :D
ReplyDeleteGOOD ONE!! ;)
ReplyDeleteNose bleed much! hahaha
ReplyDeleteHong goleng nomon ni mommy razz.
as the saying goes, impolite truth is better than a polite lie. so lie to me. haha. :)
ReplyDeletei felt like reading on books while reading this.. pero HONESTY is having a peace of mind..so TRUE!
ReplyDeletevery well said mommy!
ReplyDeleteThis is well said, and well put. There are times I have bent the truth, but I would like to think it is more for the protection of others than for myself. But regardless of my feelings for myself, there are things I don't want to happen even to me. Peace of mind is all well and good, and so is honesty, but some people are just not willing to pay the price for it.
ReplyDeleteIto lang masasabi ko. "You'll never regret being honest"
ReplyDeleteHonesty is next to godliness..lol
May naalala akong kanta sa post na to, yung "i'd rather hurt your honestly than mislead you with a lie" di ko matandaan yung title.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's hard to admit the fact but this is better than hearing false promises and lies.
Agreed! Honesty is the foundation of a strong relationship. :D
ReplyDeleteNice article. Mark Twain even insisted that if you tell the truth you don't need to remember anything. Simply because it comes from the heart and it must be pure.
ReplyDeletethis post is really good..ganda ng laman...may value eh, may point!
ReplyDeletehonesty? this, for me, is the very hard thing to do...isn't it? :D
yup being honest really takes you a long way. lying never helps anyone
ReplyDeleteI agree that honesty is more than telling the truth but feeling the truth. this makes no excuse then for those white lies or whatever color of lies we tend to justify! great post!~
ReplyDeletehonesty, is such a lonely word... everyone is so untrue... yan lang yung truth na maiiexample ko tungkol sa honesty... tama ka, sabi nga ni Dr. House, everyone lies...
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Honesty of the person really defines what or who he is... Thumbs up!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your extended definition of honesty. True, it's not merely telling the truth. It's an attitude of fairness and sincerity too. Galing!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing this Leah, but sometimes honesty was hard to implement especially if it means hurting also
ReplyDeleteVery well said. I know how hard it is when you are struggling with honesty and hurting some one. Sometimes we have to lie just not to hurt anyone, that is life. Kumbaga, kelangan talaga magsinungaling para makadiskarte. Hehehehe.
ReplyDeleteNice post! Being honest to everyone is just plain simple as being honest with yourself...
ReplyDeleteHonesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue.
ReplyDeleteBeing honest is not just about words, but actions as well. ^_^
Honesty is really important but I don't think we should be honest all the time, I mean if you really have a heart you will encounter white lies all the time! Like making your "ugly" friend feel special by telling her she's not ugly, or telling someone no one is stupid when you know she can't even pick up simple instructions and she does not have a common sense. There are circumstances beyond us that will force us to lie to soften the truth. And I don't think that's bad. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's better to tell the truth even if it can hurt or damage one's feelings.. Lying hurts more..
ReplyDeleteNot all the time you need to be honest. You also need to lie to avoid hurting somebody or simply to cover up someone who is really in trouble. If you have good intentions and good reasons why you lied then I think we need to consider that but if its malicious or the intention is to aggravate somebody then that's no good anymore.
ReplyDeleteHOnesty is like TRUTH...it shall set you free :)
ReplyDeletehonesty can be very very hard to define.
ReplyDeletehonesty is really important for anything in this world
ReplyDeleteHonesty can be very tricky especially if you doesn't want to hurt anyone with the truth. But one human responsibility is to be honest not only to others but to himself too. As told, It's better to hurt me with the truth than to make me happy with your lies.
ReplyDeleteHonesty can't be seen nowadays and it sucks.
ReplyDeleteGenerally , Honesty is the best policy yun na yun
ReplyDeleteI still believe that honesty still exists. Sometimes, we need to be very keen though when to say the most honest opinions we have specially if relationships are at stake.
ReplyDeletevery true... some people tend to forget that.
ReplyDeleteHonesty determines integrity.
and without honesty you can never trust someone. that's why this is the most important thing in this life. honesty!
ReplyDelete"honesty is such a lonely word. everyone is so untrue.
ReplyDeletehonesty is hardly ever heard. and mostly what i need from you."
all of us have lied in one way or another but it doesn't mean we are too bad to love. we may not tell the truth, but we should not tell a lie.
i don't want to be Pinocchio. LOL !!!
such an inspiring post...
nice post! actually for me beautiful..hehehe..
ReplyDelete..parang honest na tao ata...
